The Chicago Cubs are having a remarkable 2016 baseball season as they have the best record in MLB and are the only team to have clinch their division, the NL Central, already. This was the first time they won the National League Central since 2008. They ended up dominating the NL Central as it was known back in June that the Cubs were going to be winning the division. They may be adding another piece to their pitching rotation in the off-season that could make their pitching very dangerous in 2017.

It is being rumored and being talked about among the baseball insiders that the Chicago Cubs are being mentioned as one of the teams that are showing interest in Jose Fernandez of the Miami Marlins. Over the last few weeks, Jose Fernandez has been linked to several teams including the Cubs. In addition to the Cubs, the other teams being mentioned are the Yankees, Red Sox, and the Dodgers.

When he first came up with the Marlins in 2013, he was being touted as being the next big thing. He came out the gate very well but ended up getting slowed down by injuries. He would end up having Tommy John surgery in the middle of the 2014 season and would not make his debut until July 2nd for the 2015 season.

He is still young as he is only 24 years old and still has two years left on his deal with Miami. It makes perfect and logical sense for him to go to a big-market team like the Cubs. They have a good farm system so that they can send young players back to Miami, and the Cubs can resign Fernandez to a long contract. Also, a change of place can help him get back to being the dominating pitcher he once was. It will be interesting to see if Jose Fernandez does leave Miami, where he would end up.
