It seems the New York Yankees are looking towards the future. In the last few weeks, they have traded away such players like Andrew Miller to Cleveland and Aroldis Chapman to the Chicago Cubs. Well, it seems they are not done yet as another rumored name to be on the move before the August 1st deadline at 4 pm is Right Fielder Carlos Beltran.

ESPN’s Buster Olney is reporting there are several teams interested in the 39-year-old outfielder. Some of the teams looking at Beltran are the Cleveland Indians, Texas Rangers, Houston Astros, and even the rival Boston Red Sox. If something does happen where Beltran is dealt before the 4 pm deadline it needs to be a “deal they can’t refuse.” Apparently, sources are saying that it’s unlikely something happens because the Yankees are asking for a heavy price for Beltran who is having a phenomenal season so far. In 2016, he has 21 homers, has driven in 62 runs batted in, and has a batting average over .300. In his 19 year career, he has batted over .300 only five times.

The biggest question is if the last two deals are any indication on what the Yankees are doing, then it’s that they are working towards the future as they are building their farm system to be stacked. Cleveland already sent four top prospects to the Yankees for the Andrew Miller deal, so it would be unlikely they would send more prospects. Also, I don’t see a deal with Boston because Yankees brass has gone on record as of late Sunday night by saying they don’t want to help their rivals. This pretty much leaves the two Texas teams.

There is still plenty of time before the 4 pm deadline, and anything can happen. There may still be other Yankees on the move before the 4 pm deadline.
