It seems there happens to be a lot of interest in future Hall of Famer Carlos Beltran from the two Texas teams. According to Mark Feinsand of the New York Daily News, it seems that the Texas Rangers and the Houston Astros both have expressed some interest in Carlos Beltran, who turns 40 in April.

As the source told Mark Feinsand, the Astros are “hot” for Beltran, who played for the Astros for half a season with them before signing with the New York Mets before the 2005 season. He was a contributor towards the Astros playoff run in 2004 that lead to a showdown with the Chicago White Sox for the World Series. He happened to spend approximately two and a half years in the Bronx with the Yankees before being traded to the Rangers before the Trade Deadline on August 1st.

Beltran had decent numbers this past season for the Yankees and Rangers as he hit a batting average of .295 with 29 home runs, 93 RBIs and had a .850 OPS. Those numbers came from playing 73 games as a designated hitter and 69 in right field. It is interesting to see what type of contract he will be looking to get. Being that Beltran is getting older and won’t probably get more than a one to a two-year deal, I expect that will be the deciding factor. Another thing that Beltran will need to consider is about signing with a contender as he has not won the World Series during his 19-year career.

Unfortunately, I don’t suspect that the Yankees will have any interest in bringing him back because they are not in any market for a DH. It is becoming knowledgeable that the DH for the Yankees will probably be Brian McCann as he will split time with Gary Sanchez.

It is still early in the offseason, and anything can happen. Stay tuned to the Inscriber Digital Magazine as we will continue to provide the latest news regarding the MLB offseason.
