It’s Monday.

The first day of the week, the beginning of another long, hard and stress-filled slough to Friday, the day in which we have to get back to adulting after a long alcohol-filled weekend of spending time with our mom—as it was Mother’s Day yesterday—watching LeBron and the Cavs get crushed by the Boston Celtics on national television and basically, getting back to the real world.

Like all people I will also have a hard time getting myself up and asking Alexa to start my day off, drop my daughter off to day care and get back into my normal routine of commuting to work. In case you need a little extra oomph and reason to get out from under that warm cozy blanket of yours to brave the early morning chill, look no further than Jacksonville-based fitness coach, Jessica Bowser Nelson.

Nelson, a sprite and spunky thirty-something is a certified six-time Elite Beachbody Coach, two-time Million Club Earner, online fitness coach and a member of the popular SHAUN WEEK/Insanity Max 30. A member of Dare 2 Dream, a dedicated group of online Beachbody coaches who help motivate and provide fitness and lifestyle tips.

Below is my Q and A with Jessica as we talk motivation, working out, being a big-haired girl and knowing that the impossible IS possible.

What does “Fitness Focus” mean to you? I believe fitness is a way of life. And not just about external fitness, but mental fitness as well.  To get sustainable results, we have to transform from the inside out. And what you focus on, you improve upon. So living a fitness focused life is a must.

Tell us all a little about you? I’m a 37 year old online fitness coach, cast member of workout programs: Insanity Max: 30 and Shaun Week, deal lover, and big-haired girl on a mission to help people realize their potential in life.

What is your opinion of “shamers” online and how do you deal with them? When it comes to shamers, I try to keep the perspective that it’s not about me, it’s about them. They are projecting their own issues/insecurities onto the thing they are shaming vs looking in the mirror. I try to address them when possible and block them when necessary. I don’t have time or any desire for negativity in my life. People are contagious and they are not going to infect me or my followers.

Any new projects and magazine spreads coming in 2018? I might have a secret project coming soon. I could tell you, but I’d have to kill you. Ha!

What kind of model are you (IG, glamour, fashion, etc?) I’m not. I’m a regular girl that has super amazing results working out consistently around 30 minutes a day from wherever I am. BAMMM!

Thoughts on the rise in popularity of fitness models on IG? I’m most interested in those that are real, transparent and vulnerable. THE RISE OF THAT is EXCITING!

Pumpkin spice, Salted Caramel or Peppermint Mocha? VANILLA…. ha! I’m so vanilla.

What fashion and fitness tips and trends do you have for looking good and staying in shape in 2018? Update your workout wardrobe as a reward! When you feel good, you do better, go harder and show up more often! It CAN make a difference. As far as fitness, you don’t have to do a lot! Just do a little every day. It will add up to amazing results. And with spring on the way, embrace the rainbow! Make sure your dinner plate is full of color. Avoid browns. Embrace the greens!

What did you do during spring break? What’s spring break? Thankfully, I have hustled hard enough that I get to design my life taking breaks when I need or want them. I went to Mexico in April with a lot of my coaches and I was so super pumped for that! Mexico and sunshine are my happy place.

Hot swimsuit trends to watch for in 2018? I’m so not trendy.

String bikini, thong, two-piece or bodysuit, which do you prefer? Two piece. And I just require that my butt is covered. Ha!

What would you say is your best feature? My smile.

What makes you feel sexy? Wedges and a tan.

What exudes sexiness? Confidence/ Self-acceptance and approachability.

What attracts you most to a man? His realness and willingness to be vulnerable.

What is THE one hot fashion item that you must have/or get this season? hi-tops.

Athleisure? Fashion or fitness fad? FASHION!!!!

What is your workout and fitness secret to staying in shape? Give it all you’ve got then give it a little bit more. since i only exercise around 30 minutes a day, I make sure and make every second count.

What’s on your workout playlist music wise? The Greatest Showman!

Fave music? Ballads

What advice would you give to women aspiring to get into modeling? Your work that you put into your craft will prove how much you want it. Never compromise who you are but also know that the impossible IS possible.
