After the passing of his father, Zach Cooper and his mother Gale move to the small town of Greendale, Maryland. Zach is in the midst of a rebellious phase and his mother feels the change of locale can provide a fresh start for them both.

Zach and the neighbor girl, Hannah, meet very briefly, as her father, R.L. Stine, cuts their introduction short in rather brusque fashion. Following an evening escapade between he and Hannah, Zach becomes intrigued and a bit concerned for her welfare due to Stine’s behavior and the unsettling sounds he hears from their house later that night.

Seeking to come to Hannah’s rescue, Zach tricks Stine into leaving so he can infiltrate their house with his new friend Champ. The make their way through a trap laden basement to get upstairs and find their way to Stine’s office as they following a growling noise. They find a number of locked manuscripts, and out of curiosity decide to unlock one. They are confronted by Hannah, who thinks the two are there to rob she and her father.

Even though they aren’t their to steal, Zach and Champ perpetrate an even worse act as they accidentally unleash the ghosts and demons of R.L. Stine’s imagination on the town and its residents.

Now Zach, Hannah, Champ, and R.L. Stine himself, must race to get every last one of the monsters back into their respective books before they completely run amok over the town of Greendale.

Rob Letterman directed the film based on Darren Lemke’s scripted adaptation of Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski’s story. .Jack Black stars as R.L.Stine and is joined by a cast that includes: Dylan Minnette, Odeya Rush, Amy Ryan, Ryan Lee, Ken Marino, Halston Sage, and Jillian Bell.

Kids of all ages will have a chance to get Goosebumps as the monsters from R.L. Stine’s imagination jump off the pages of his books and onto the big screen of theaters nationwide, starting October 16th. Visit FANDANGO for showtimes and to purchase tickets.
