Oakland- The Golden State Warriors are playing out of their minds and everyone around the NBA has taken notice.
The Warriors dominated the paint in a scrappy fourth quarter, shooting 70% from the field in that quarter of a 105-93 win over the Houston Rockets. The Warriors outscored the Rockets 32-17 in the final quarter.
Klay Thompson led the Warriors with 21 points. Stephen Curry and Harrison Barnes scored 20 each for the Warriors, who have now won a franchise record 14th straight game. Barnes was 7/9 from the floor with 15 points in the second half. The Warriors defense shut down the Rockets the last 8 minutes of the game.
James Harden scored 34 points to lead all scores in the losing effort for the Rockets, who are 0-2 against the Warriors this season. Trevor Ariza and Donatas Motiejunas put in 18 points each.
The Warriors are 19-2 on the season, best in the NBA, and are on a 14 game win streak. Both marks are best in team history. First year head coach Steve Kerr becomes the first head coach to start his career 19-2.
“I’m the luckiest coach in NBA history because I inherited a team that is really good,” Kerr said. “I speak for everybody when I say it’s fun to go to the facility each day and get ready for the next game”
The Warriors next game starts a three game road trip as they take on the Dallas Mavericks (17-7) in a Saturday matinee.
