Arizona pushes past the Michigan Wolverines in Ann Arbor with a final score of 72-70. Strong interior play and numerous late-game free throws fueled the Wildcats victory at a hostile Chrysler Arena.

Early on, Michigan came out firing. They nailed six first half three pointers while taking a nine point lead over the number one ranked team in the country. In the first half alone, Michigan’s star forward Glen Robinson III scored 16 points with a perfect shooting percentage. Additionally, sophomore Spike Albrecht came off the bench with some awesome assists while draining two three pointers of his own.

As play resumed in the second half, the Wildcats continued to push back until they gained a small lead behind the strong play of Brandon Ashley and Kaleb Tarczewski, but the real star of the game for Arizona was guard Nick Johnson. Johnson hit six free throws in the final 25 seconds of the game to protect Arizona’s small lead.

Now, Arizona remains undefeated and should maintain their top ranking in the country. Although they have shown weakness in many of their games this season, they have continuously been able to come ahead in the end. The Wolverines now have four losses already this season as Big Ten play looms. In order to compete in the brutal conference, major adjustments will be necessary for Michigan.
