FAYETTEVILLE – Despite a 14-13 win on the road against the Arkansas Razorbacks, Alabama may want to put out a missing persons report on star wideout Amari Cooper.

After averaging 163.7 yards receiving, 10.7 catches and one touchdown a game in his first four games against the likes of West Virginia, Florida Atlantic, Southern Miss and Florida, Cooper, a 6’1 210-pound candidate for the Biletnikoff Award—awarded to the nation’s top wideout—has all but disappeared in his last two games in totaling 11 catches for 123 yards against No.3 Ole Miss and Arkansas.

While it is only six games into the season, if you’re an Alabama fan, you cannot help be but a little concerned about the drastic drop off in Cooper’s production.

In Saturday’s win over the Razorbacks, Cooper caught two passes for 22 yards.

Again, still early for over-reactionary opinion within Roll Tide country, but outside of it, the drastic drop off of Cooper can be seen as another example of an Alabama player being more of a by-product of Nick Saban’s system instead of being an individual talent.

With the exception of Julio Jones and Eddie Lacey, name an Alabama offensive player under Saban that has gone on to the next level and produced?

Trent Richardson, Mark Ingram, A.J. McCarron, Glen Coffee?

According to Rob Dang of CBSSports.com, Cooper is projected to be the second wideout taken in the 2015 NFL Draft behind Michigan’s tight end/wide receiver, Devin Funchess and Oklahoma’s Dorial Green-Beckham could still be a impact player at the next level as he is among the nation’s leaders in yards receiving (746) and receptions (52)

Perhaps teams are keying up on Lane Kiffin’s tendencies in using Cooper, who knows, but if Cooper’s production doesn’t improve dramatically, then add his name to the growing list of Crimson Tide busts to play on Sundays.
