Well Browns fans, this may be your best chance. The Cleveland Browns may actually have a chance to win a game this week, as they play host to the New York Jets. The Jets are coming off a win, as they won at home against the Baltimore Ravens 24-16. The Browns lost in Cincinnati by two touchdowns in week seven, and are an NFL worst 0-7. They have to win a game sooner or later, right?
But before we get to that, lets talk Jets. Before last weeks game, the team benched quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick for being terrible at his job and turning the ball over left and right. They turned to Geno Smith, who proceeded to tear his ACL, and the team was forced to put Fitz back in there. And he was pissed, but it led to him playing better and winning the game. So which Fitzpatrick shows up this week? Well I should clarify, it was Matt Forte who was the leading force for the offense a week ago, but Fitz did improve. But at the end of the day, he is still Fitz, and I am not holding any expectations for a big performance. The defense will play a big part in this one, as they will be tasked with getting after the quarterback.
Now, the Browns. All signs point to Josh McCown being back under center, as he returns from a shoulder injury. He only got to play in week two, which saw the team lose by five to Baltimore. The team has only gotten to play two home games to this point in the season, so we do not really know if that will benefit them yet against a sub-par opponent like the Jets. The Browns defense is not on the level of the Jets, and I should probably pick the Jets for that reason alone. But the Browns need to win sooner or later, and I am viewing this as their best chance to do so. So while I have absolutely no real reasoning to support my pick here, I am simply going off the premise that the Jets should not be favorites on the road.
