David Blatt, Jabari Parker and Hope Solo highlight the InscriberMag’s News and Notes for Saturday, June 21, 2014.

Cavaliers Reach Agreement with David Blatt: The Cleveland Cavaliers 39-day search for a new head coach came to an end Friday in reaching an agreement with former Russian national and Maccabi Tel Aviv head coach, David Blatt.  According to media reports, the deal is for three years and $10 million, with a team option for a fourth.  Blatt, 55, was sought after by Golden State and Minnesota before reaching a deal with Cleveland.

The 55-year-old Blatt is widely considered one of the most innovative offensive minds in basketball, inherits a talented—yet underachieving—Cavs team that includes five former first-round picks in Kyrie Irving, Dion Waiters, Tristan Thompson, Anthony Bennett, Tyler Zeller, has the top pick in the up-coming 2014 NBA Draft on Thursday. Known for his up-tempo and guard-friendly offense, former NBA Rookie of the year, Kyrie Irving should flourish.

Jabari Parker to Cavs at No.1?: Thanks to the recent stress fracture in the right foot of former Kansas center, Joel Embiid, former Duke Blue Devil small forward, Jabari Parker could be in the discussion for the top overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft. 6’9 and 245 pounds, Parker projects to the NBA as a small forward/swingman, would fit the hole vacated by free agent Luol Deng.

During his one year down in Durham, Parker averaged 19.1 points, 1.2 assists, while shooting 47.3 percent from the field, 35.8 percent from three-point range. While Andrew Wiggins is still in play for the Cavaliers, multiple media reports are now projecting Parker to Cleveland, as he is a better fit for newly-hired David Blatt’s up-tempo offense.

Hope Solo Arrested for Domestic Violence: According to media reports, U.S. women’s star goalie, Hope Solo has been charged with two counts of domestic violence in striking her sister and 17-year-old nephew in her Seattle-area home.  The Seattle Reign FC goalkeeper was arrested early Saturday, where according to a police report was intoxicated and the alleged aggressor during a late-night party at her residence.

As of press time, Solo is being held without bail.
