NFC East Power Rankings for Week 1 of the 2014 Season have the Philadelphia Eagles on top of the division.

In fact, they are the only NFC East Team ranked in the top ten.

NFL.com ranked the Eagles at No.6, still noting their rough preseason start. They also highlighted the addition of Mark Sanchez and their strong offense.  ESPN has the Eagles ranked at No.7, citing QB Nick Foles’ performance last year with 27 touchdowns and only two interceptions.  They consider him a “lock for regression”.

Other teams didn’t fare so well in Week 1 Power Rankings:

Washington Redskins

  • ESPN: No.25
  • NFL.com: No.27

Notes: Everyone knows Robert Griffin III, did not impress, period (0 TDs, 2 INTs on 10 drives). Joe Theismann even suggested that backup QB Kirk Cousins should start. That will not be the case, but RG3 now has to prove his fans right – Was he playing possum? The Redskins should also lean on the running power of Alfred Morris and Silas Redd.

Dallas Cowboys

  • ESPN: No. 23
  • NFL.com: No.22

Notes: Like watching the Titantic slowly sink into the ocean, the Dallas Cowboys are a few players away from being an afterthought in the NFC East. Tony Romo will have to hold the line for them and score big. Their defense will be looked at with great scrutiny now that teams don’t have to fear names like  Jason Hatcher and DeMarcus Ware.

New York Giants

  • ESPN: No.20
  • NFL.com: No.24

Notes: Ben McAdoo’s offense will have Giants fans feeling the way Redskins fans feel when we see RG3 limping. Their heart will be in their mouths each game, and expect a lot of sighing.  Eli Manning didn’t impress in the preseason, and will have to get past the work-in-progress type of offense to survive Weeks 1-5. However, the Giants always manage to surprise everyone just when you think they’re done for the season.
