In surprising news during the middle of Week 7 of the NFL season, the Seattle Seahawks have traded wide receiver Percy Harvin to the New York Jets for a 2015 conditional draft pick according to Fox Sports’ Jay Glazer.

Harvin played an important role down the stretch in the Seahawks Super Bowl run during the 2013 season despite missing most of the season with a hip injury.

In Harvin’s career with the Seahawks, Harvin collected 23 receptions for 150 yards and zero touchdowns in the passing game through six games.

In the running game, Harvin collected 11 rushing attempts for 92 yards and one touchdown. It is a very surprising trade due to the fact that Harvin allows opposing defenses to spread out and let Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson and running back Marshawn Lynch to see less defenders at the line of scrimmage.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter via Twitter, the Seahawks believed that Harvin was not a fit for the team.

The Seahawks traded a first and third-round pick for Harvin from the Minnesota Vikings during the 2013 offseason.

For the Jets, the team is obviously looking to surround second-year quarterback, Geno Smith with more talent as the Jets organization has been criticized over the course of the season due to their inactivity in free agency, as well as the 2014 NFL Draft by not addressing key pieces on the offensive side of the ball.

Jets head coach, Rex Ryan is arguably coaching for his job at this point and Jets general manager John Idzik is under fire as well.

The Jets are trying to make something out their terrible start to the season with a 1-6 record with their current outing resulting into a last-second loss against the New England Patriots 27-25 on Thursday Night Football.
