Nick Foles led the Philadelphia Eagles to a victory in Super Bowl LII last season after starting Quarterback Carson Wentz went down with another knee injury, and this season he went down again with a back injury. As a result, Nick Foles has taken over the reigns yet again and got the Eagles into the playoffs by the narrowest of margins.

Last year the Eagles also had the benefit of playing its two playoff games last year at home at Lincoln Financial Field prior to the Super Bowl. This year will be a challenge as they will have to go on the road three times to make it back to the big game to repeat, starting at Solider Field in Chicago. In addition, he will be coming into the game with bruised ribs that he suffered in last week’s season finale.

Last year, Foles played beyond amazing with a 70.6 completion percentage, with 971 yards passing with six touchdowns and only one interception, plus a receiving touchdown.

The upside for the first playoff game in Chicago is that Foles has been tested in the playoffs, and the opposing Quarterback Mitchell Tribusky has not so nerves will less of an issue for Foles. Another thing that will be a positive for him, is his offensive line is intact unlike last season when star veteran Left Tackle Jason Peters was out for the year after tearing his ACL and MCL in his right knee.

All and all, the odds might be longer than last year for Foles to have lightning strike twice in as many years, however it is far from unprecedented, and I wouldn’t bet against him.
