The market value for quarterbacks is insanely high right now. Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins can make up to $28 million per year while Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan could make up to $30 million annually. Aaron Rodgers could sign a revised deal worth $33 million a year. What does this mean for Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz and Los Angeles Rams quarterback Jared Goff?

Wentz led the Eagles to the playoffs last year despite an ACL tear. His backup Nick Foles finished the job as the Eagles won the Super Bowl over the New England Patriots. However, it’s important to remember Wentz was the catalyst. He made sure the team had this chance in the first place. If he is even 90% recovered, his market value could be at least as good as Tom Brady’s ($20,000,000 annually). Chances are if Wentz shows no signs of slowing down, he will seek a deal worth up to no less than $25,000,000 with incentives (not guaranteed money).

Goff could earn almost as much as Wentz. Although the Rams didn’t advance to the Super Bowl, they made the playoffs and lost to the Falcons. By all rights, Goff should look to sign a deal for approximately $22,000,000 annually with incentives with about $16 million a year in guaranteed money.

With elite quarterbacks seeking over $25 million a year, it is difficult to predict just how much money Wentz and Goff could earn. These figures are mainly speculative for the purposes of starting the conversation. It is just as possible that Wentz and Goff will earn more than Jimmy Garrapolo. It will depend on their market value and possibly their desire to allocate more money towards top-tier free agents while accepting a few million dollars less.

When it’s all said and done, both quarterbacks should have top 12 salaries. Wentz is worth more than Goff at this time despite suffering the season ending ACL tear. The Eagles won their first Super Bowl so Wentz gets credit for that despite not being able to start that game.
