The Montreal Canadiens have acquired goaltender Devan Dubnyk from the Nashville Predators for future considerations.

Dubnyk who was traded from the Edmonton Oilers last month to Nashville while Pekka Rinne was injured. He was drafted by the Oilers in 2004 in the first round and has had a rough season. Through 34 games this season, he is 11-18-3 with a 3.43 GAA and an .891 save percentage.

“It’s been a difficult year but I’ve been keeping my fingers crossed and I’m pretty excited,” Dubnyk said. “It was a good chance for me and I was excited to come to Nashville but unfortunately is hadn’t worked out the way I had hoped here.”

Carey Price was recently placed on injured reserve and it was reported that he aggravated the injury during the Olympics in Sochi. As of late, Peter Budaj has been getting the starts in goal for head coach Michel Therrien.

Price, who is one of the top netminders in the NHL is 26-17-5 with a 2.33 GAA and a .925 save percentage with four shutouts this year. It is uncertain when he will return to the lineup and who will remain as Price’s backup down the road.

Montreal (34-22-7) is currently second behind the Boston Bruins in the Atlantic Division.
