Northeastern, a team from the Colonial Athletic Association, are coming off a season-opening victory. The team defeated the Boston Terriers by a score of 87-77 to start the season off. Northeastern was led by Senior guard T.J. Williams, who put up 30 points, dished out eight assists and sank 11 of 15 free throws. Senior Forward Alex Murphy added 20 points and was three of four from behind the three-point line.

Playing host will be the 18th ranked UConn Huskies, whose season started off in an unexpected fashion. In the first major upset of the season, Connecticut fell to the Wagner Seahawks by a score of 67-58. To make matters worse, the Huskies were the home team. Wagner beat Connecticut on the boards, outrebounding them 37 to 33, while also shooting the ball better from all parts of the court. Senior guard Rodney Purvis led the team with four turnovers, while Sophomore guard Terry Larrier also contributed three.

Entering the season as a favorite to win the American Athletic Conference, the University of Connecticut men’s basketball team is going to have to come out and make a statement Monday night. Coming off an upset loss to open the season is never a good thing, and they need to silence the critics early. They will certainly drop in the rankings thanks to their opening loss, and very possibly fall out of the top 25 completely. So make sure to check out UConn as they battle to show that game was just a fluke.
