COLUMBUS, OH — After defeating the top-ranked visiting Texas Longhorns, 14-7 on Saturday. The defending national champion Ohio State Buckeyes claimed the No.1 ranking in the new AP Poll Tuesday evening.
Ohio State, who came into the season ranked No.3, after finishing the 2024 season at No.1 in defeating Notre Dame in the College Football Playoff Championship game, reclaimed the top spot in what was a master class of NFL-level defense and confusing the high-touted Arch Manning to the point of one interception, one sack and four fourth down stops, vaulted two spots up to No.1.
The rest of the AP poll has six Big Ten teams in the top 25, with the Buckeyes No.1, Penn State No.2, Oregon No.6, Illinois No.11, Michigan at No.15 and Indiana at No.23
