While not well-known yet, thanks to her remake of Phil Collins’ 1981 hit, “in The Air Tonight” 26-year-old alterna-pop songstress, Kelly Sweet, will become a name we all know soon enough.

A voice that sounds soft, mellow and ethereal, Sweet’s calming-like voice fused with electronica pop, lends a unique and refreshing approach.  Similar to Norah Jones and Diana Krall, Sweet lives up to her surname.

Sweet, a native of Cape Cod, Massachusetts-born and Kanab, Utah-raised singer who cited influences such as Annie Lennox, was featured in a July 2006 USA Today article on up-and-coming female singers.

Raised in an artistic family, Sweet studied musical theater at Interlochen Center for the Arts in the summers of 2000 and 2001 before releasing her début album while on tour with Paul Simon in 2006, We Are One, whose tracks would be used in daytime drams such as Passions, One Life to Live and Las Vegas.

At the age of 14, Sweet sang the national anthem at Los Angeles Laker games on three occasions.

In 2007, Sweet performed a cover of Aerosmith’s Dream On, which would sit at No.1 for six straight weeks on the FMQB AC chart.  After losing both parents to cancer in 2011, Sweet would release her second album in 2012 titled, Ashes Of My Paradise and the EP CD Sirens in 2013.

Her recent January 2014 self-released remake of Phil Collins’ classic has already been used on ESPN’s NASCAR coverage and in promos for NBC’s new show, “Believe”.

You may not know her yet, but Sweet’s catchy and soft sound will be one that not to miss.
