The final phase of the work took place on ancestral land outside Alcalde, Rio Arriba County, bringing closure to a case rooted in 19th-century land conflict and cultural disruption.
The case was initiated in March 2022 when clinical social worker Mirella Gutiérrez sought assistance following decades of unexplained tragedies and intergenerational trauma in her family. Through months of archival research, fieldwork, oral history gathering, and culturally integrated healing practices, Lariani and her team traced the issue back to 1879, identifying a spiritual bind resulting from a land betrayal and unresolved ancestral grief.
