The Philadelphia Eagles finally released their secret weapon. The man nicknamed “Trigga”, Bryce Treggs had two catches for 69 yards in Sunday’s loss to the New York Giants.

The Giants had no answer for Treggs first two catches. On Treggs third and fourth target they knew they had to act fast, so they sent Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie to make sure Treggs didn’t get away again and on both pass attempts DRC made sure Treggs didn’t make the catch. I may be a bit biased but both times looked like possible pass interference penalties should have been thrown, but no such flag. Much to the dismay of Treggs and especially quarterback Carson Wentz who was yelling for a flag.

The Eagles may have lost but they put the league on notice, they have a deep threat who can catch the ball.

Treggs was originally with the San Francisco 49ers before he was cut before week 1 and the Eagles swooped in to give him a home. The Eagles must have been in the mindset that if Chip Kelly cut him, he must be good, right? Yes, turns out they were right and Kelly was wrong again.

Nelson Agholor is the Eagles #2 wide receiver and in 21 career games, he doesn’t have 69 yards in one single game. Treggs does. In one game.

Critics will say that opposing teams had no tape on Treggs and they didn’t know what to expect, etc. But there was nothing but talk leading up to the matchup that Treggs could stretch the field, he couldn’t be overthrown and as Wentz put it “He can fly”.

So, I’m fairly certain the Giants knew what to expect. Treggs models his game after another Cal star receiver in the division, DeSean Jackson.

Jackson, who didn’t rule out the possibility of a return to Philadelphia next season might not be needed after all. Treggs looks very promising. I’m not saying Treggs will be Jackson, but based on one game, he obviously has the skills and great hands.

The fact that he can catch already should put him above Agholor, who had very costly drops on Sunday.

The Eagles were reportedly looking at 49ers wide receiver Torrey Smith at the trade deadline, as it turns out, maybe we didn’t need him.

All aboard the Treggs Train.
