In Philadelphia Eagles Trade Rumors News:

The Philadelphia Eagles are in dire need of a running back, Not just any back but one that can move the chains and a veteran. The team is still young, so to have some experience in the huddle will do wonders for all skill players.

To add salt to the wound is what happened Sunday night against the Dallas Cowboys. The Eagles were forced to rely on Darren Sproles much of the game and while he did produce to the tune of 15 carries for 86 yards, Sproles is not a featured runner. He’s a third down assassin, not to mention his duties as a punt returner. Wendall Smallwood and Ryan Mathews have not gotten the job done which should have the Eagles on the phone with the Cowboys asking about the availability of Alfred Morris.

Morris still has years left on his body and with the way Ezekiel Elliott is running the ball, he will not see much of the field this season. The NFL is still a passers league as RB’s getting 1,000 yards has dwindled in the last few years. But, Morris will provide the Eagles with a big body and a player that can catch the ball out the backfield. The Eagles can send Mathews in exchange and pray that Smallwood learns to hang on to the football in crunch time. He has the speed, but the team cannot afford his rookie mistakes.

With games against the Giants, Falcons, and Seahawks in the next three weeks the Eagles will need a strong ground game to balance out Carson Wentz and the air attack. The Eagles are 17th in the NFL in rushing yards and plenty of that is due to early season success. Lately, they’ve been a tad stagnate in that department and the record has suffered because.

The trade deadline ends tomorrow but the Eagles season is riding on a decision that must be made by then.
