Ray Allen did not play well last season with the Miami Heat. That along with 18 years in the NBA, is why Allen despite conflicting reports, still doesn’t know if or where he wants to play in 2014-2015.

For the first time in his career, Allen failed to average double-digit points in 2013-2014. In addition for the first time in the last four seasons, Allen shot under 40 percent from beyond the arc.

Throughout last season, the leagues’ all-time leader in three’s looked his age. Allen is in great shape, but his health. his age along with the grind of an 82-game season are weighing heavily on his decision.

According to The Boston Herald, many teams are seeking his services for the veteran minimum, including his former coach Doc Rivers and the Los Angeles Clippers.

But Jesus Shuttlesworth isn’t sure he is willing to sacrifice his body another year and take another pay cut. Allen told ESPN.com that he is content with retiring.  In an interview with the Herald, Allen stated that him leaning toward Cleveland is false.

He and LeBron James did travel to the Bahamas in the wake of the NBA Finals, but apparently never discussed basketball.

If Allen were to join the Cleveland Cavaliers, he would reunite with former teammates Mike Miller and James Jones. But with the Cavs bringing in Kevin Love’s contract and contacting Shawn Marion, there may not be enough room or money for the 10-time All-Star.

As he gets closer to 40 Allen may choose time with family over seeking a shot at a third title this fall.
