Editor’s Note: Due to the tricky and often false nature of EPL transfer window rumors, this article falls upon the self-imposed Gonzalo Higuain Rule, named after current Juventus’ Argentine striker and one-time Arsenal target, Gonzalo Higuain.

Higuain, who was rumored to have “signed” for Arsenal by multiple media outlets before going to Napoli in 2013. Until said player has officially taken his medical and an image of them is posted on said club’s site, the Gonzalo Higuain Rule is in effect, and every rumor is treated as pure speculation.

With the summer transfer window set to open, what we all need to be prepared for are the usual transfer windows of players looking to make a move. If reports are believed to be true, one of the biggest names is European soccer could be taking his talents from the Allianz to Stamford Bridge in the form of Bayern Munich forward, Robert Lewandowski.

With various media outlets reporting that the 29-year-old Polish-born striker recently revealing that he wishes to leave Bayern Munich via his agent, Pini Zahavi, rumors of where he may land have run rampant.

Despite being under contract with Bayern until 2021, no official offers being made for the 6’1 Lewandowski, who has scored 151 goals in 195 games, topping the Bundesliga scoring charts in two of the past three seasons. For all of his regular-season success with the Bundesliga giants, Lewandowski has had very little success in European competition, as Bayern has exited at the semi-final stage in three of his four seasons with the club – with a quarter-final defeat coming in 2017.

Most recently Bayern lost to the eventual champions from Madrid, 4-3 in aggregate.

One of the most prolific scorers since breaking out during Euro 2012, and during his time at Borussia Dortmund, teams rumored to be interested in his services include Chelsea, Manchester United and City, in addition to the formentioned Las Merengues in Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain.

If Lewandowski decides to play in the Premier League, the big-money Blues may be the best spot for him. With loads on money to spend, plus plenty of need for a premier striker of his caliber, Lewandowski at Stamford Bridge may be the best pairing for both sides.

After parting with longtime adviser Cezary Kucharski and hiring the Israeli-born Zahavi—who also has deep ties to Chelsea, per The Sun—it wouldn’t be out of the realm of possibility for Lewandowski to defect from Bayern to West London, as Zahavi was the man behind Neymar’s record-breaking  $259 million move from Barcelona to PSG.

He was the man that helped Roman Abramovich buy Chelsea Football Club in ‘03, facilitated Neymar’s escape and now has been retained by Lewandowski, who now wants out at FC Bayern Munich.

They say follow the money in all things, but in this case, follow the super agent behind one of the most powerful men in Abromovich and clubs in European football in Chelsea.

Lewandowski to Chelsea. Book it!
