The Frisco RoughRiders have taken game one against the Missions. In this first-of-four matchup, the RoughRiders pitchers were able to seal the deal. Between Collin Wiles and Sam Wolff, Frisco edged out San Antonio, 3-2.

Wiles, the starting pitcher for the RoughRiders, had an impressive performance. Although he gave up leadoff singles in the first three innings, the 22-year-old Kansas native was able to battle back. Wiles finished the start with allowing eight hits, two earned runs, no walks, and tossing 6 strikeouts. He left with a 2.90 ERA over his 7.0 innings.

Wolff ended up getting the decision, a win that brought his overall record to 1-1 in 9 total appearances. He set himself back, giving up three walks and two hits in his 2.0 innings. However, Wolff displayed a great deal of confidence. He worked his way out of a sticky situation in the eight, and a bases-loaded situation in the ninth. He was able to punch out the last batter of the game, for four total strikeouts.

While the RoughRiders were able to rack up 10 hits, getting runs seemed not so easy. Frisco left 11 batters on base, hitting just 3-for-12 with RISP. Matt Lipka ended up putting the go-ahead run on the board. He hit into a fielder’s choice, that was able to score Royce Bollinger from third.

Scott Heineman kept his bat hot, as expected. The outfielder added to his lengthy on-base streak, extending it to 22 games now. The RoughRiders centerfielder had an infield single and a well hit triple, that split the gap between center and right.

The 3-2 victory over San Antonio brings the RoughRiders to a record of 13-12. The club has been teetering on the .500 line all season. They look to make headway towards the positive side, with three games remaining in this homestand.

Frisco’s next matchup is on Wednesday, and the first pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM CT. The RoughRiders will be sending Connor Sadzeck to the hill, facing off against Barry Enright for the Missions.

Sadzeck is another phenomenal pitcher to watch. This 6’ 7”, 240 lbs. righty has found his rhythm with the RoughRiders, performing well lately. He enters the contest at 2-1 with a 4.43 ERA.
