LONDON (UK) – Thanks to Liverpool’s purchase of Mario Balotelli, Arsenal need to go all in on Sami Khedira.

Khedira, a member of Germany’s World Cup-winning side in Brazil and midfielder for Real Madrid, is being heavily courted for his signature by both the Gunners and Chelsea.  After seeing Balotelli go to Liverpool and former Gunner Cesc Fabregas and Atletico striker Diego Costa both go to Stamford Bridge, the Gunners need to resist their traditional thrifty ways and spend big on Khedira.

In getting Khedira, Arsenal would not only land another top-flight player, but also land a player that would address Arsenal’s biggest area of weakness on defense and the counter at midfield.

It is no secret that while Arsenal is a traditional free-flowing and attractive side to watch, when it comes to the counter, teams in the past know that they can press high and attack right thru Arsenal’s other-wise soft midfield.

While Mikel Arteta and Mesut Ozil are good in their own right, the lack of a holding midfielder is a huge red flag.

If Arsenal hopes to challenge for silverware in 2014-15. While reports state that Khedira’s wage demands may be out of the Gunners more modest price range, Arsenal needs to make a statement—not only to themselves—but to the rest of the international football community that they are not afraid to spend money and willing to buy players and challenge.

If Arsenal can buy the likes of Mesut Ozil, Alexis Sanchez and Calum Chalmbers, then what’s really stopping them from going all in on Khedira?

It’s now or never for Arsenal. Period.
