It didn’t take long for San Francisco 49ers general manager John Lynch to dash all hopes that his third draft with the team would go better than the first two. Then Nick Bosa as the no.2 pick happened.
Bosa is the fourth first round selection along the defensive line for San Francisco in the last five years. He joins Arik Armstead, DeForest Buckner and Solomon Thomas.
Still in all fairness in any other year Bosa is a solid pick, a B at best. Even with his deleted tweets and liking of racists and anti LGTBQ posts on Instagram he does help add to an already improved pass rush after acquiring Dee Ford from the Kansas City Chiefs.
Unfortunately for him and the 49ers with only five picks remaining and a number of needs taking Bosa there wasn’t the best move. Trading down was always the best option. Rumors did start before the draft that Thomas is on the trading block and during the draft a possible trade up to take a wide receiver.

At the moment Lynch definitely needed to do better and drafting Bosa doesn’t help his cause.
