It seems loyalty means something in the NHL, at least it does to Shane Doan. The Coyotes center has made it very clear he doesn’t wish to be traded to a contender at any point this season.

Doan stated his thoughts about being moved to reporter, Sarah McLellan of the Arizona Republic.

“It hasn’t even crossed my mind,” he said. “It’s not even something I’m thinking about. I don’t foresee me ever making that decision.”

Doan has been a Coyote since  his rookie year  during the  1995-96 season. In fact, Doan has been a member of the team throughout its history in Arizona, as the team was centered in Winnipeg for his first full season.

Doan is second on the team’s scoring list with 863 points scored for his career. The Coyotes Captain had his best years from 2007-09, where he accumulated 151 points in two seasons.

Doan was a recipient of the King Clancy Memorial Trophy in the 2009-10 season.

He also won the Mark Messier Leadership Award in 2011-12, making him not only one of the best sportsman in Arizona Coyotes history, but the NHL’s as well.

Shane Doan exemplifies the kind of player you want on your team.

He is loyal and to him winning isn’t the only thing that matters. It’s about dedication to your sports, and most importantly your city.
