The playoff race has begun. The top eight teams in the league will qualify for the postseason regardless of conference. The regular season ends on September 11, 2025, and the playoffs begin on September 14, 2025.
•As of today, here’s a look at the standings and how the playoff picture is shaping up:
•Top Contenders: The Minnesota Lynx have a commanding lead for the #1 overall seed and have already clinched a playoff spot. The New York Liberty, Atlanta Dream, and Phoenix Mercury are in a tight battle for the other top seeds. The Las Vegas Aces have surged recently and are firmly in the mix.
•Battling for the Middle: The Indiana Fever and Golden State Valkyries are currently holding down spots in the middle of the pack. In their Inaugural season, the Valkyries have already set a record for the most wins by an expansion team.
•Fight for the Last Spot: The race for the final playoff spot is the most competitive. The Seattle Storm, Los Angeles Sparks, and Washington Mystics are all fighting for the final two spots, with only a few games separating them.
•On the outside: The Dallas Wings, Chicago Sky, and Connecticut Sun are on the outside looking in and are likely out of playoff contention.
The playoff push will be intense over the final few weeks of the regular season, with every game significantly impacting seeding and home-court advantage.
