Hutchinson, Kansas.

It’s okay if you don’t know where it is on a map, let alone within the state of Kansas itself.

Known as “Salt City” due to being home of salt mines since 1887, the south-central town of 42,000-plus, located on the Arkansas River, is as small-town Americana as it can get.

Few would guess that it would be the birthplace of one of the most beautiful up-and-coming fashion and glamour models today in Sarah Rachel Price.

A native of Hutchinson until the age of eight, Price would settle nearly 477 miles south in Lubbock, Texas.

Known more for being the home of the “Air Raid” high-flying college football offenses at Texas Tech, it is in this northwest Texas town nicknamed “Hub City” that Price would blossom from being a simple Kansas sunflower to a Texas rose in bloom.

From Salt City to Hub City, Price and her modeling profile would only begin to take off from there.

In what has been a fascinating journey in the world of modeling—in which she took a brief eight-year break for not being tall enough—Price’s journey has taken her from Lubbock to Dallas and exotic locales such sailing the Caribbean in a luxurious cruise ship and frolicking on the warm Puerto Rico beaches of San Juan and Pinones Beach.

In what appears to be a truly breakout year, the 28-year-old 5’7 brown-haired stunner has modeled for the likes of Brazilian-style bikini and swimwear line, Berry Dog Bikini’s and Plano, Texas-based intimates brand, Gabrielle’s Lingerie.

In what appears to be a banner 2017 for Ms. Price, she would recently be chosen to model in Miami during the U.S. Bikini Model competition this coming June and an upcoming shoot for MAXIM South Africa.

As sunny and pleasant as the warm Texas sun, Price is as bright, personable and engaging as they come. Below is my Q and A with Price as we discussed New Years resolutions, plans for 2017, traveling, modeling, how a Texas-raised girl became such a BIG Chicago Cubs fan and about some QB prospect who may be able to help my Browns in the form of Patrick Mahomes.

Enjoy!

Robert D. Cobb: Congrats on being chosen for the Holidays/Winter cover, how does it feel?

Rachel Rose: “Gracing the cover of an accomplished magazine is an honor for any model, I was absolutely ecstatic when I received the news!

I definitely felt proud of my work knowing others recognize the uniquely aesthetic ideas and qualities I exhibit through my art of modeling. All the wonderful photographers I have had the pleasure of working with who encompassed my vision and shared their beautiful ideas I cannot thank enough.”

Robert D. Cobb: What did you do for New Years Eve?

Rachel Rose: “It’s all about reflecting on the past year and bringing in 2017 with the ones you love and I spent it with family and friends in one of my favorite areas in the world, Deep Ellum, Dallas! Wonderful live music at every pub, surrounded by beautiful art and stories, breathed in by a unique history and genuine character you just aren’t able to experience at a lot of other newly developed city areas.”

Robert D. Cobb: What are your New Years resolutions for 2017?

Rachel Rose: “Oh, I have so many! Travel, learn, get accepted to a top 50 law school. Enjoy my nephews and nieces while they are still little. Spend quality time with my loved ones, as we all know tomorrow is never promised….you have me becoming a little emotional now! =P”

Robert D. Cobb: Ryan Seacrest or Carson Daly? Who was more annoying to look at?

Rachel Rose: “Hahaha! You know it’s funny you say that, I never was particularly fond of either of them! Fortunately I’m not much for Television or radio so I am spared a lot of their quirks, but if were sticking specifically to looks, I must say Carson Daly is [less] annoying to look at, and that’s simply based on the fact that he is much taller (and better looking) than Ryan Seacrest.”

Robert D. Cobb: What kind of model do you consider yourself? (Instagram, pin-up/glamour, fashion)

Rachel Rose: “Fashion and glamour model. My favorite is definitely fashion, I have an eye for pattern and design by nature and I love the edgy expressions and poses high fashion brings to the art of photography.”

Robert D. Cobb: What brands have you modeled for? Which one do you enjoy modeling for the most?

Rachel Rose: “Berry Dog Bikini’s and Gabrielle’s Lingerie”

Robert D. Cobb: With winter now here, what are your fashion and style tips for the ladies out there?

Rachel Rose: “Winter has always belonged to the best of fashion. Summer fashion is charming of course, but with winter comes a certain elegance and class. Fur jackets, vests, and boots (lace-up boots, knee-high boots, combat boots, snow boots) are my heaven when West Texas becomes chilly December through February.

You can mix and match fur and boots with tights, jeans, business attire, dresses, virtually anything you can put underneath them! Because furs and boots are typically black, brown and suede it’s important to finish off such warm and sexy fashion combinations with an additional dramatic color to avoid looking overstatedly blended.

I see many woman sporting adorable threads, yet wearing exact similar tones throughout their entire outfit. Turning to winter accessories fixes this, while allowing expression of individual style and personality in detail. I enjoy wearing dark neutral winter colors with little pops of brightness such as a pink knit hat, bright red gloves, or a two-toned scarf that compliments skin and hair hues.”

Robert D. Cobb: Where has been your favorite place to shoot?

Rachel Rose: “I really enjoy participating in on location shooting, whether its near water and nature, or deep in the city. Studio work can be very creative and beautiful, but there’s something especially breathtaking about capturing a shot with life in its surroundings.”

Robert D. Cobb: You looked really warm during your shoot in Puerto Rico? What was that like?

Rachel Rose: “I was indeed very warm and throughout the set I am taking periodic dips in the ocean! It was definitely nice it being October, unfortunately due to the rain and humidity that day I quickly became covered in hundreds of allergic bites from gathering sand gnats.

Bug spray non-affective, by the end of the week I was avoiding the beach entirely, only doing photoshoots at our domicile (luckily we were staying in a very lovely photoshoot-friendly home). Bless the hearts of the photographers who had to edit all those little bites out!

Other models fell prey later in the week and by the time we returned to the States, pictures were showing up everywhere of distraught models, doctor visits, and lots of Google research! So models (as well as tourists), definitely beware when you’re rolling around in the sands of Puerto Rico!”

Robert D. Cobb: What other exciting projects do you have lined up?

Rachel Rose: “Possibly the most exciting aspect of modeling is there always seems to be something novel seeking my attention. I have several exciting projects developing for 2017, including posing as a female version of Iron Man, shooting with wild horses on a ranch in Katy, Texas, a models event on the Emerald Coast of Florida, which I hear is stunning, and a venture to LA to pose for Maxim South Africa.

I also want one of my main focuses to be fitness modeling (I am halfway there!) because that would expose me to additional worthwhile opportunities. I wish for 2017 to center around exploring new areas, and I am pleased to say I my inbox has received many requests regarding bookings and collaborations on music videos and films, this very well has great potential to be an area worth receiving my time and attention.”

Robert D. Cobb: What is the most exciting aspect of modeling?

Rachel Rose: “Modeling is exciting for multiple reasons, but my personal favorite would have to be the adventure! There are endless opportunities and no limitations, which can be very rare attributions in other areas of life.”

Robert D. Cobb: What is your secret to staying in shape?

Rachel Rose: “I have been a distance runner all my life,  I also do weight and strength training, though not excessively. The most important thing I think is eating healthy and finding an activity you love and are able to be consistent with.”

Robert D. Cobb: Outside of modeling, what are your hobbies?

Rachel Rose: “Outside of modeling I enjoy running, reading, rock and metal concerts, and spending time with my family.”

Robert D. Cobb: What are your favorite cities to travel to?

Rachel Rose: “My favorite cities to travel to are Austin and Chicago, I actually hope to live in Chicago one day!”

Robert D. Cobb: You mentioned that you’re a Cubs fan, how did it feel to be alive and see them win the World Series?

Rachel Rose: “Although baseball is one of my favorite sports to play, and I love watching my nephews play, it’s ironic in a way because I became a Cubs fan not for my deep passion or invested interest in baseball, but for the sole reason of my enchantment and love for Chicago and everything it entails, particularly the history of the city, in which the Cubs are a major part of, being one of the original eight teams in MLB.

The Cubs winning the World Series played a lot into the entire history of Chicagoan culture back to 1908, over a century since a World Series Win! I was driving from Dallas to Houston the night of the World Series, and luckily for me I was able to begin watching it toward the bottom of the 8th, just when things were becoming overwhelmingly interesting and quickly progressing into legendary!

The Cubs appeared to have a winning lead, and when Cleveland came back and tied it I knew my stepdad (an Ohio native) was rooting hard back in West Texas, and I remember laughing, thinking no way, no how Cleveland, the Cubs HAVE to win this! The major fright and overall intensity of those last innings made the win all that more magical and deserved in the 10th, 8-7, CUBS!”

Robert D. Cobb: How does a girl from Kansas end up being a fan of the “Lovable Losers”

Rachel Rose: “Well they aren’t the ‘lovable losers’ any longer, just lovable! (: That much is certain!

When you truly admire your team, winning and losing seems to be rather irrelevant to most fans (when I became a Cubs fan I certainly didn’t make that decision based on their record!)

So do we really love winners, or do we love the aim to win, something ALL teams possess? It will be very interesting to witness the Cubs maintain these heights in the upcoming years, they have definitely not only set a new bar for MLB, but given hope to all baseball teams and their fans across America.”

Robert D. Cobb: Within the industry, who is your inspiration?

Rachel Rose: “Honestly any model I see in the industry working hard and staying true to herself serves as inspiration for me! There is a lot more to modeling than meets the eye and it is definitely far from a cake walk.”

Robert D. Cobb: Since you’re a Texas Tech fan and my Cleveland Browns finished the year at 1-15 and need a QB, is this Pat Mahomes kid that I’ve been hearing about any good?

Rachel Rose: “Not applicable, since I’m a Longhorns fan, but my man is a Tech fan! But yes, Mahomes is very good, 1st draft pick for Browns?! (: ”

Robert D. Cobb: What advice would you give to women aspiring to get into modeling?

Rachel Rose: “Get a good network of people you trust and branch out from there. I began knowing only one photographer from a mid-sized city and because he was extremely trustworthy and knowledgeable I was able to expand into a world of wonderful experiences and now have interests in me for all types of modeling, music videos and international work.

Be dependable, honest and hardworking, with everyone you work with, it is valued more than you could ever realize. Most importantly, never give up. I made the mistake of taking a eight year break from modeling because agencies told me I wasn’t tall enough for high fashion, no one took the time to enlighten me of all the additional areas my look would work for!

So remember – even if you’re the only one who believes in you – that’s enough!”
