Filmmakers are always eager to make good stories and direct movies around them. There are some films about sports betting and live soccer odds too, that have altered our views about the player’s lives, lives of coaches, friends, the family of the persons involved in sports betting.

Two For The Money (2005)

Based on the true story of a former college football player who got success as the sports tipster, Brandon Lang was an amazing player. His career didn’t turn out to be as predicted. As he decided to leave his job, Lang then made a contract with Walter Abrams. Brandon was much talented at predicting the outcomes of football games. Both as a team started selling predictions, tips and stats to the sports bettors.

Matthew McConaughey and Al Pacino have done great work depicting the emotional process of winning and losing, and at the same time showing how the industry works. The film shows ups and downs, winning and losing of the characters as well as their clients.

The Color of Money (1986)

So before Tom Cruise became the poster child for aliens, he was making some movies that didn’t show him hanging off the side of some airplane. Martin Scorsese directed oeuvre; Paul Newman and Cruise play the pool hunters that scam people of their money. The best thing is that Newman reprises the role of Fast Eddie Felson from The Hustler and also makes great salad dressing. Eddie takes cocky but talented youngsters under him to teach the art of pool hustling.

Eight Men Out (1988)

The movie is based on a real-life scandal of the 1919 Chicago White Sox team. It further shows how gamblers get easy access to dictate the results of sports matches and events. This movie talks about eight members of the 1919 White Sox team who took bribes from the gamblers to lose against Cincinnati Reds in World Series. So the player’s poor playing skills get the attention of a few journalists who then starts to write about their suspicion in the newspapers. This further makes the league look as if its an issue. Thus, by the end of the film, you see complete fall out in which all players are fully banned from the match.

Though the movie is based on such a terrible event in the history of baseball, it is a great movie to watch. It is simple to see why players would take such an action. But it goes to show that due to this reason, it doesn’t make it right.

Lay The Favorite (2012)

Based on the life of the betting wiz Beth Raymer, the film is all about a woman who realizes that she has a liking for sports betting. The real Raymer has actually spent a better part of her life dispelling the myths about sports betting and showing that most people that bet on sports are not the lowlifes as the media portray them. The fun thing is that Bruce Willis plays a good role in this film.

Casino (1995)

This is a movie by Martin Scorsese on the fringe of USA society and is based on a real story of Frank Rothstein, played by Robert De Niro. The Casino is the movie that shows an intense investigation of criminal groups in the casinos of Las Vegas. These events took place in the 1970s, and De Niro is one of the best oddsmakers who became responsible for the biggest casinos in Nevada. So the profit he created for the owners was too huge and insane while at the same time managing a gambling operation. Then later, he was the first one to create the first legit sports betting company in the USA. The location of the shop was inside one of the casinos. And in the movie, sports betting is shown as the biggest need for society’s criminals.

So, these are a few sports betting movies you must watch for a great time. Not just are these movies well crafted, nicely acted and fascinating, they even shed some light on the sports betting world and all that are involved in it. They even show the fact that despite some negative stereotypes, the professional bettors have highly capable minds and skills.
