The second year of Scott Frost’s tenure officially started last night with the Spring Game. Coach Frost and his staff have dubbed it UCFastival. The day started out with the food truck wars with over 40 food trucks competing for 5 different awards.  Amish Pretzel Company, Arrested Appetite, and Cousins Maine Lobsters (which is co-owned by Barbara Cocharan from Shark Tank) were some of the trucks that were in attendance.  UCF baseball had a game at 1:00 PM against UConn which you could have attended as well.

They were supposed to have free hot air balloon rides but the wind would not cooperate.  Therefore the school officials decided to shut it down. That was about the only thing that went wrong for UCF. They had NXT and WWE stars there signing autographs for the kids.  In addition to the “adrenalator” which was an inflatable obstacle course for the kids.  Face Painting, Balloon Animals, Portrait Drawings, and a new edition Be the Hamster.  Which was a giant hamster wheel where kids would use their feet to make their own sno-cone.

4:30 Lauren Alaina came on stage and was performing for the crowd.  Keeping in mind that none of this cost any money at this point.  In addition to the vendors who were giving away free stuff with wheels of prizes or plinko games.  So far a great time for kids and adults alike.  At last, it was almost time for the game but we made a couple more stops one for another sno-cone.  And the other to pick up some UCF Swag from the campus store. Gates open and its one of the best feelings in the world walking into the stadium and the atmosphere fo football. My good friend Sam and I enter with high hopes.  The two things we were hoping to see improve from last season was O-Line and QB play.

Sam Unger UCF Alumni class of 2006 and long-time season ticket holder to UCF had this to say about the day.  “My take away from the spring game itself is that QB McKenzie Milton and the O-Line looked better, there are more playmakers, good depth on defense the and the secondary will miss Clarke who got suspended for the first 6 games for weed. The spring festivals were top-notch again. Kept the kids happy concert was a big name act and Lots of food options” The things I took away from the game for 1 I echo Sam’s sentiments about the QB and O-Line play.  I found also that the entire offense looked more comfortable in Scott Frost’s uptempo offense.  Which is going to cause other teams to have a lot of problems against us. With all the upgrades to the stadium, it really stood out and made you appreciate it.  Also, another thing I noticed was that reigning AAC defensive player of the year Shaquem Griffin has improved some more and is faster and stronger than last year. Getting into the actual game was fun it was UCFierce vs UCFast the final score was 35-28.

In conclusion, the start of Scott Frost’s second year with UCF was a big positive and I believe he is going to bring fans to the games and victories for the team.  In the words of Erik Kohler Public Address Announcer for UCF “that will move those chains and is good enough for another UCF First Down” “Charge On”
