With the NBA getting traction with its season, with the NCAA football schedule winding down while the NCAA basketball picking up, even with the NFL in the meat of its schedule, there is a big event down under in Melbourne Australia that is being headlines by the best and most popular figure in the world of mixed-martial arts.

UFC 193 is set to draw to most fans for a MMA event in where the ladies are the headline event of the overall card. The reason is one name … the name that has proven to be the money maker for the UFC in recent months, Ronda Rousey.

There is no one on this earth by now who does not know the name Ronda Rousey. Rousey continues to run through her opponents like boxing’s “Iron” Mike Tyson when he ran through the heavyweight division in the 80’s and 90’s.

Rousey continues to defeat anyone in her division. While the one woman that everyone wants to face her, “The Cyborg,” the weight issues still remains. So Rousey has accepted her latest challenger and several months earlier than projected originally. Just for this event in Melbourne.

Could Rousey be making a mistake however with this challenger?Rousey’s next opponent for her bantamweight title is one that has come up in the ranks as a great striker but it is her defense that could give Rousey issues.

Holly Holm is ranked 7th in the UFC bantanweight rankings. She holds an undefeated 9-0 record. But it is how she continues to win her fights that is the most alarming for Rousey and her title reign. Her defense against take-downs is flawless, UFC numbers say 100% accurate to Rousey’s 72%. Holm’s defense rating is also higher than Rousey’s at well over 69% proficient to Rousey’s 51% proficient. Holm’s victories have come more from obtaining KO/TKO victories as oppose to Rousey who goes for the submission victories in her last title defenses.

This fight on paper looks to be the match everyone has been waiting for to give Ronda Rousey a real challenge. But that was said about Bethe Correia and The Alpha” Cat Zingano.

But this is just one match on a very underrated main card.

In the strawweight division, the current champion Joanna
Jedrzejczyk is taking on her challenger in eighth ranked Valerie Letourneau. Men’s side of the main card includes a number of names, whether stars or up-and-coming who should be paid very close attention to.

Heavyweight Division:

Mark “Super Samoan” Hunt vs Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva

Stefan “Skyscraper” Struve vs Jared “The Big Show” Rosholt

Light Heavyweight Division:

Uriah “Prime-Time” Hall vs Robert Whittaker

As stated before, on paper the overall card looks to be undervalued but do not underestimate these competitors for they have put on some very good fights which have earned them this spotlight.
This Saturday night, in Melbourne, Australia all eyes of the UFC world will fall onto UFC 193. Not just UFC eyes but all interested eyes to see arguably the greatest women’s fighter alive today, Ronda Rousey and what could be her last fight before she takes some time off (Source reports).
