UFC Fight Night Stockholm on Fox delivered on the hype as it provided three knockouts.

In the main event, Anthony Rumble Johnson scoring a massive first-round knockout of the hometown boy Alexander Gustafsson. This match was to decide the new number one contender to Jon Bones Jones’ light heavyweight championship.

The crowd in Stockholm was rabid and cheered on Gustafsson rabidly throughout the bout. It was after a brief stoppage caused by a Gustafsson eye poke that things got heated quickly. Both fighters starting throwing home run shots until Johnson landed a crushing blow to Gustafasson that put the nation’s favorite son on Rubber Leg Street.

Johnson eventually put him down and started pounded on him from the ground for 45 seconds straight until the referee finally made the right call and stopped the fight as Gustafsson could not answer any of the shots. This win was the ninth straight victory for Johnson, and his sixth by knockout in that stretch.

His hard shots will be difficult for anyone to try to stop and Jones will have all he can handle when the two eventually meet for the lightweight title. The three other main card fights were packed with action as well. Dan Henderson was knocked out in just 70 seconds by the former Strikeforce Light Heavyweight champion Gegard Mousasi.

The stoppage was controversial as many fans in attendance felt as though the referee stopped it too soon. From where I was sitting, I think the stoppage was justified as Henderson stumbled backwards and provided no defense to the shots from Mousasi. Tonight may be the last time we see Henderson on the big stage.

In a bit of an upset, Ryan Bader won a three round split decision over Phil Davis. Two of three judges scored the fight 29 – 28. It was two Ryan Bader takedowns late in the third round that got his hand raised in the end. I feel as though, for the second straight UFC card, the judges miss scored an important fight.

Bader did no damage from the takedowns, and Davis were stronger and quicker on their feet. Davis didn’t do enough to make it a convincing win, and in the end that is what cost him.
The opening fight of the main card saw Sam Sicillia knockout Akira Corassani with a devastating right cross minutes into the first round.

Sicillia controlled the pace and stalked Corassani until getting his opening to land the knockout blow. It was a solid night of fights, and for a free card on Fox, it was better than UFC 182 Pay Per View earlier this month.

Until next time fight fans. No Blood : No Foul!
