The Walking Dead has been one of the most-watched shows in recent television history and that is not expected to change in Season 8. Andrew Lincoln has done an amazing job with his portrayal of Rick Grimes, but is currently locked into a heated rivalry with Negan. Now, Lincoln has opened up about that rivalry in a new interview.

During a recent interview with TV Insider, Lincoln teased a killer rivalry with Negan and gives fans a lot to look forward to.

“Everywhere I go in the world people stop me to say, ‘Will you please kick Negan’s a**? Enough already!’ But I find their relationship—and how each sees a part of himself in the other—to be quite thrilling. [Laughs] If Negan must eventually get his just deserts, maybe we can stretch it out a little?”

Lincoln also addressed the Season 8 trailer, in which it appears that Rick has gray hair and is a senior. That clip had fans confused and Lincoln did not give them much of a hint of what to expect.

“It’s top secret, of course, and it’s thrown a real curveball at the fans. I’m choosing to ignore the whole thing. I couldn’t even look at myself in the old-age makeup. Couldn’t bear it. I don’t watch the show at all. I am allergic to my own face.”

As many know, The Walking Dead producer Robert Kirkman has made it clear that Rick will not last all the way to the end of the show. Lincoln sounded disappointed, but talked a bit about his feelings on the matter.

“I’m sad hearing that. But if it happened in the series it would also be a huge relief. I love the idea of completion. This has been an astonishing ride, but I need to cash in at some point. I know some fans hope for a happy ending to the show—like a cure for the zombie virus, perhaps. But, knowing Kirkman, I wouldn’t bet on it!”

Needless to say, the questions surrounding the show continue to grow. It has kept fans coming back for more and Lincoln is not going to give away too much to give fans a reason to stop watching. From the sound of it, Season 8 will be full of twists and turns that fans will not be expecting.
