When it comes to the 2016 Washington Redskins, there is a considerable lack of respect. This is a team that is completely fine with being under the radar. After all, this is where they flew all of 2015 as well. This is a team that is ready to defend their 2015 crown and become the first team since 2004 to repeat. Here are three reasons why the Washington Redskins will win the 2016 NFC East Championship.

Stability

The Washington Redskins FINALLY has stability in the organization. They have a front office structure that resembles a winning organization. The once involved owner keeps his nose out of football business and lets his football guys handle it. The General Manager, Scot McCloughan, is a football guy. He will rid the team of players that do not want to win and that are aging. President, Bruce Allen, solidifies the money and plays a key part in gaining winning contracts for the organization. Finally, the Redskins have a solid coaching staff. Going into year 3 of having the same staff, there is no talk of the coach being on the hot seat. Head Coach Jay Gruden was able to structure the roster to his liking. Thus the reason the Redskins have begun winning more consistently.

Youth movement leads to winning

The Washington Redskins have had a youth movement since the hiring of Scot McCloughan. When you bring in younger football players, there is a sense of winning in their demeanors. In order to build a consistent, winning organization, you need these types of players. A great mix of high-quality veteran talent along with the youth is the reason why the Redskins are poised for another successful campaign in 2016. If the front office of the Washington Redskins keeps acquiring this talent and moving forward then they should be a contender for years to come.

Kirk Cousins

Many still have a reserve when it comes to Kirk Cousins being a franchise QB. Not this writer. The belief started in the preseason of the 2013 season when Kirk Cousins played in place of then supposed franchise QB Robert Griffin III. At that time I thought Cousins should have, at the very least, started the season while Griffin still rehabbed a knee injury. Even though he had a turnover issue during his extended playing time in 2013 and 2014 I saw the glimpses of what would be an eventual franchise QB in the NFL.

Would that be with the Redskins was yet to be seen?

Then the light came on in 2015 and Cousins led the Washington Redskins to a division title. Along the way to this division title he set several franchise records and finished the season as the NFL’s top completion QB with a 70% completion rate. Kirk Cousins is ready to continue to grow and lead the Redskins to the first NFC East repeat championship since the Philadelphia Eagles did it in 2004.

Let the critics continue to play down the 2016 Washington Redskins. This is a team that is poised to do great things. These great things will not only happen in 2016 but the future as well. These are just 3 of the many reasons that the Washington Redskins will do something that has not been done since 2004.
