It’s July 1st, 2018, that’s not a typo, and NBA Free Agency is already booming.
After the Golden State Warriors won their third title in four years against the Cleveland Cavaliers, other teams look to improve and take down the dominant super team. Early in that morning, the Los Angeles Lakers make the biggest three transactions potentially in NBA history. While the contracts are not long in years, but they are long in revenue.
Here is the opinionated projected roster for the 2018 Los Angeles Lakers:
Point Guard: Lonzo Ball
Shooting Guard: Russell Westbrook
Power Forward: LeBron James
Small Forward: Paul George
Center: Brook Lopez
Now that’s a lot to take in at one moment, so let me break this down for you. Paul George is currently playing for OKC Thunder, and has already stated that he will be leaving to LA regardless of what happens in OKC.
Now this is expected, except now he has an entire year to convince Russell Westbrook to leave with him, which he does. After PG-13 and Brodie lose again in the first round, and receive now help through trades, Brodie realizes he has to go back home to LA.
Brodie realizes that he could sign a big dollar and small year contract, which gives Brodie a chance to finally win a ring.
It’s July 2nd, and Laker Nation is pumped, learning that they have two huge all stars joining the Lakers, nothing could be topped off. Until someone post a picture of themselves with Russell Westbrook and Paul George, that someone is LeBron James.
The King has already shown his distaste with the owner of the Cleveland Cavaliers, and once LeBron losses another Finals to GSW, not getting more help that he wanted, he decided he would take his talents to LA.
If you are a Los Angeles Lakers Fan, you have a lot to be excite for in the future, now while all of this may be hypothetical, it is very plausible. The Lakers have a lot of cap space going into the next year, and with that amount of cap space, and the new amount of free agents that will be available next year, the Lakers are in the prime spot.
This is going to be an eventful NBA Free Agency…well next year.
