Peter Jackson has had immense success with the Hobbit films over the last few years. However, is a superhero movie in the cards?
Jackson didn’t seem to coy on the idea during a recent interview stating,
“I don’t really like the Hollywood blockbuster bandwagon that exists right now, The industry and the advent of all the technology, has kind of lost its way. It’s become very franchise driven and superhero driven. I’ve never read a comic book in my life so I’m immediately at a disadvantage and I have no interest in that.”
It appears as if Jackson doesn’t have an interest in spearheading a future Marvel or DC film. However, he certainly does have a feel for the epic adventure. Jackson has directed all six of the films based in Middle Earth, and the 2006 blockbuster King Kong.
It might be nice to see Jackson’s vibrant imagination come through in a future superhero film. It would be nice to see Black Panther’s homeland of Wakanda, or his vision of the the great beyond with The Inhumans and Captain Marvel brought to life as only Jackson can.
I wouldn’t hold your breath for a Peter Jackson-led superhero film, but it’s sure nice to think about.
