A promising technology that combines the ability to transmit power wirelessly, while simultaneously harvesting energy from the atmosphere, has been developed by Ahmad Alattar in cooperation with researchers at the University of Sharjah. The breakthrough will enable the efficient transmission of electricity with no losses, without the use of wires. Radio frequency is converted into electricity, which can be transmitted to distances in excess of 10 meters.
Primarily developed for consumer applications, Mr. Alattar sees additional applications which include military use with an emphasis on drone deployment. Likely future applications include internet of things (IOT), remote sensors and medical devices.
With two patent applications filed, further development will incorporate machine learning to optimize the efficiency of transmission and reception. Gains in range and system output are expected in the near future.
