Cedar Point is the home to many outstanding coasters. If you’re looking for the best of the bunch, you’ll no doubt put Maverick at the top of your list.

Opened in 2007, Maverick is always one the busier coasters at the park. Lines for the ride at peak park times can hit upwards of 3 hours. It’s amazing seeing as to how the coaster is ten-years-old.

Manufactured by Intamin, Maverick was the 17th coaster at CP when it opened. It was the 500th coaster built by famed designer, Werner Stengel, who previously worked on Cedar Point’s giga-coaster, Millennium Force.

What sets Maverick apart from the rest of the Cedar Point coasters is its heavy theming. There are a lot of intricate details that go into Maverick. Whether it be the boulders, water canyons, or western-inspired music in the queue lines, the coaster is much more picturesque than most others at Cedar Point.

I’m not sure what makes Maverick my favorite coaster at Cedar Point. I’ll want to go on, again and again, something about it just calls to me.

I truly feel like the launch at the mid-point of the coaster is one of the most exhilarating feelings I’ve had on a ride. Add into that to the steep drop at the beginning, and you’ve got yourself one of more exhilarating coasters in the world.

Maverick isn’t the fastest or tallest coaster at CP. Although, it doesn’t have to be. The experience you get on it makes it not only one of the best coaster at Cedar Point, but North America as well.

If you visit Cedar Point, make sure Maverick is one of the first coasters you ride. It might not look like much from the outside, but trust me, it’s one hell of a ride.
