LAS VEGAS, NV—On Sunday, October 5, the Las Vegas Aces defeated the Phoenix Mercury, 91-78, in Game 2 of the 2025 WNBA Finals, commanding a 2-0 lead in the best-of-seven series.
The game’s turning point was a historic performance by Jackie Young, who set a WNBA Finals record with 21 points in the third quarter.
• Key highlights: Aces’ key performance, Jackie Young led all scorers with 32 points (tying her playoff career-high) and eight rebounds, with her record-setting 21 points in the third quarter, crushing Phoenix’s momentum.
• A’Ja Wilson recorded a double-double with 28 points and 14 rebounds.
• Chelsea Gray also had a double-double with 10 points and a game-high assists.
• Mercury’s key performance Kahleah Copper led the Mercury with 23 points, Satou Sabally followed with 22 points, Alyssa Thomas was limited to 10 points while dealing with foul trouble.
• Gameflow: The Mercury started strong, leading 27-24 after the first quarter, but the Aces closed the first half with a large run to take a 46-37 lead. Young’s explosive third quarter then pushed the Aces’ lead to as many as 22 points securing the comfortable victory.
