According to the WNBA, The Golden State Valkyries expansion draft is scheduled for Friday, December 6, 2024.
The expansion draft will be broadcasted on ESPN at 6:30 pm ET.
The WNBA’s 13th franchise the Golden State Valkyries will debut in the 2025 season.
Golden State will select one player from a designated pool of unprotected players from the current WNBA teams.
Each team submitted their roster list, this past week.
The list will include every player they have rights to, which includes active players, suspended, draft list/reserved core and retired.
According to the WNBA, each current team can protect up to six players from their respective teams.
All unprotected players will be made available for selection by Golden State in the expansion draft.
The expansion draft is just the start of Golden State’s roster-building process.
Golden State will be able to participate in free agency, which begins in February 2025 and the WNBA Draft on Monday, April 14, 2025.
The WNBA Draft is presented by State Farm.
Golden State currently holds the 5th overall pick in all three rounds.
