INSCMagazine: Get Social!

Kate Moss. Cindy Crawford. Christy Turlington. Claudia Scheffer.

Not even 30 years ago, these were the names that you’d hear about and see walking down various catwalks in the heyday of modeling.

Thanks to their slim, toned and attractive looks Moss, Crawford, Turlington and Scheffer ruled the world of modeling along the likes of Heidi Klum, Linda Evangelista, Laetitia Costa helped bring modeling well into the 21st century.

Around the turn of the millennium, one would see a shift towards more curvier supermodels such as Kate Upton and Gisele Bundchen appear on the runway, but not quite the full-figured plus-sized models such as 29-year-old Lincoln, Nebraska native Ashley Graham, who has single headily changed the modeling game.

As with modeling, as with all things in society, new trends and looks come into vogue as quickly as old ones fade to the wayside, yet unlike old trends, it appears that the era of plus-sized models is here to stay, with Graham leading the way.

At 5’9 and a very shapely and eye-catching body that has appeared on multiple magazine covers such as Vogue, Maxim, Harper’s Bazaar, Glamour and Sports Illustrated, the self-proclaimed body-activist has helped pave the way for a new generation of plus-sized models such as Bree Warren, Iskra Lawrence and Jennie Runk.

With outer plus-sized models such as Georgina Burke, Denise Bidot, Candice Huffine, Tara Lynn and Philomena Kwao, the face of modeling or to even being a model will no longer be measured in just feet and inches, but curves and true beauty.

Thanks to the current age of body activism and a more open acceptance of plus-sized models such as herself and Robyn Lawley, the simply stunning and sext Graham is the first—and certainly—not the last in a new generation of curvaceous, beautiful and talented plus-sized women in the world of modeling.
