If you would have told me when the World Cup groups were drawn that Morocco would be unbeaten in 5 games and the teams they had to play were Croatia, Belgium, Canada, Spain and Portugal I would have laughed at you.  Not that I do not believe Morocco was that good but those are some pretty good teams surely one of them would be able to defeat Morocco. Not only have they not been beaten but they have yet to concede a goal, the only one they did concede was an own goal in their 2-1 win over Canada.

Take into consideration that they have played the 2nd, 7th, 9th, 12th and 41st ranked countries in the FIFA Rankings. Canada is the one who was ranked 41st and scored against them but again was an own goal off a defelction, and if you watch the keeper still almost keeps it out.  You can watch it Here. I mean Belgium was ranked #1 in the world in March of this year before Brazil surpassed them, and Morocco handled them 2-0.  This is not a drill this is not your normal “Cinderella”, these boys are showing that the world needs to be put on notice.

They just have this resilience about them actually kind of reminds me of the 2006 World Cup Champs Italy. In the group stages Italy had won their first game against Ghana 2-0, they then drew with USA 1-1 on you guessed it an Own goal by one of the Italian Defenders, and then would proceed to win the group with a 2-0 win over Czech Republic.  Italy would then face Australia in the Round of 16 and win that one 1-0, Next was Ukraine in the quarter-finals and guess what another win this time 3-0. So now in the Semi-Finals and still have yet to allow a goal that wasn’t an own goal. They had to face the host and one of the teams expected to win the World Cup in Germany and they took them down 2-0. It wasn’t until Zinidine Zidane made a Penalty Kick in the Finals that someone had scored on the Italian team. That team was built with a great Keeper in Gianluigi Buffon and a unreal back line that included captain Fabio Cannavaro. This Moroccan team definitely has the looks and the feel of that team and would not surprise me one bit if they won this years World Cup, matter of fact I think I would be a little shocked if they were to fall.
