Survivor Series is one week from this Sunday as it will be live in Toronto, Canada. The big “headliner” for this year’s event is Brock Lesnar having a match against a returning Goldberg, who is having his first WWE match in over a decade. Although Survivor Series has lost some juice over the years, there can be an argument made that Survivor Series is one of the most impactful WWE pay-per-views. This is because of how many main-event superstars have made their debuts at WWE’s Thanksgiving event.

The first Survivor Series took place in 1987 and since then has been the home to many debuts. Some of them have been in a match or it has been a run in. Some of them include The Undertaker (1990), Sting (2014), The Shield (2012), The Rock (1996) are just some of the superstars who have made their debuts. There were others like Shawn Michaels who have had many moments happen at Survivor Series. The two biggest ones that come to mind are that he was a part of the inaugural event in 1987 and the 1997 Survivor Series. What makes  the Michaels moment at the 1997 Survivor Series  a major moment was it became known as the Montreal Screwjob when Shawn Micheals “tapped out” Bret Hart without Hart tapping out. This would end up causing Bret to leave the company.

In 1999, the Survivor Series saw two debuts as former Olympian Kurt Angle and Big Show both made their debuts at the event. Except for Sting, who had a career in another professional wrestling organization, everyone who made their debut at Survivor Series in the wrestlers that I mentioned has all gone on to have huge careers and would also go on to win multiple titles. Also, many of the superstars who made their debuts at Survivor Series have also gone on to main event Wrestlemania.

When Survivor Series happens next Sunday, who may see the debut of a future main event level talent? Survivor Series is November 20 from Toronto, Canada.
