The Frisco RoughRiders, Double-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers, fell to the San Antonio Missions 7-5 Sunday night. A four-run fourth inning tied the game, and the Missions completed the comeback with two more runs in the eighth inning. Frisco will head back home sitting at 47-60 on the season, last in the Texas League South and carrying the worst record in all of the Texas League.
Relief pitchers Connor Sadzeck and Ryne Slack shared responsibility for the Missions tying the game in the fourth inning. Reliever Cody Palmquist gave up the game winning two-run homer in the eighth. Each of those three RoughRiders pitchers went just 2/3 of an inning. They combined to allow six hits and six runs (all earned). There were four walks and one strike out between them.
RoughRiders starter Pedro Payano finished the matchup with a quality start, finishing with a no-decision. He tossed six innings of just two-hit baseball. Payano allowed just one run (earned) and punched out six in his outing.
The offense was somewhat consistent for the RoughRiders until the game was tied. Andy Ibanez went 1-3 with a home run and three RBIs. Luke Tendler finished 1-4 with a solo homer. Juremi Profar finished his night going 2-5.
