Baltimore Ravens free agent targets
Which free agents could help the Ravens get back into the playoff race in 2017?

Bolstering the Secondary

Logan Ryan (CB) – New England Patriots

The Ravens stealing a player from the Super Bowl 51 Champion Patriots would be a win-win as an asset in a position of need and would take away a good player from a rival team in the AFC. If Logan Ryan is not resigned, he can be a high valued target at the cornerback market. Ryan is a great asset in coverage and in run support. If the Ravens want to spend some money in the secondary, Ryan could be worth it. Ryan can be a great signing as a number two cornerback in Baltimore and a number one if Jimmy Smith is out for an extended period of time. I would favor him over any other cornerback in the market because if the Baltimore Ravens cut some cap casualties, then he would be a great addition and money well spent.

Stephon Gilmore (CB) – Buffalo Bills

After an up and down season for Stephon Gilmore, he did say he might leave the Bills for a bigger payday. In a weak cornerback free agent class, Gilmore may get that big payday. Prior to 2016, Gilmore was regarded as a top cornerback and was pretty good in coverage till 2016. Even though he is a pro bowl caliber corner, I would be hesitant in signing Gilmore to a big contract. I do not think the Ravens could afford him and the inconsistent play in 2016 makes it harder for me to justify the Ravens paying him big money even if the Ravens cut some players to clear cap room.

Prince Amukamara (CB) – Jacksonville Jaguars

If the Jaguars release Prince Amukamara, I could see this as a temporary signing to fill the number two cornerback position on the outside. Amukamara is an average starter but could be signed for a cheaper deal like when he was signed by Jaguars from the Giants in 2016. He is not the oldest player so if he did well on a one or two-year deal, he could prove to be worth the deal.
