The Baltimore Ravens will travel down to Florida for week 3 of the NFL season. Their opponent will be the win-less Jacksonville Jaguars. The Ravens are coming off a come from behind 25-20 victory on the road against the Cleveland Browns, in which the team scored 25 straight points. The Jaguars, who gave the Packers a good fight in week one while at home, were slaughtered 38-14 on the road in San Diego last week.
Now I am not even going to get into specific players or units in this write-up, but simply some factors that I think will point to this game’s winner in what is a pick em game. First off, the Ravens played a divisional game last week that required saw them down 20-0 at one point. But the team put everything it had together to score 25 unanswered points and were able to pull out the victory. Following that type of win, especially in a divisional game, a team is surely in line for a let down type of game.
Meanwhile, the Jaguars got killed on the road last week. But they were on the road, and they did travel across the country. Now the Jags are back at home, where they played much better in week one. They gave the Packers a nice run in that game before falling by less than a touchdown. So with the team that has plenty of offensive weapons returning home, things should be better than last weeks debacle.
So in case you cannot tell, I will be going with the Jaguars this week. An upset in that the Jags are 0-2, and the Ravens are 2-0. But given those records, wouldn’t you expect the Ravens to be slight favorites, even on the road? The truth of the matter is the Jaguars are certainly as skilled as Baltimore, possibly more so. Now I did enter the season as a believer in Jacksonville, so maybe that is why I feel they can pull this one off as much as I do. If they fail me this week, I will indeed begin to lose faith in the club. But as things stand right now, I see them coming out on top here, in a game that is going to sit just under 47 points.
