A musical alchemist at heart, Dorian Mendez collides the elements of earth, fire, wind, thunder and water within his works. The result is one of epic proportions, a concoction of jazz, Bolivian music and Latin subgenres and acoustic strings and horns that showcase the breadth of his musical vocabulary. Having emerged onto the Bolivian scene in 2005, the Argentinian, Bolivian music creator has been cultivating a loyal following of fans ever since.
By merging Latin elements with monstrous rhythms and percussive glare, larger-than-life vocals, the sound of his mega productions has manifested itself as a strain of down to earth music that is unique to him. While musically directing, producing, and composing, his creation of Marcha De La Bronca with more than 40 Bolivian iconic musicians, including the Latin Grammy Winner Vladimir Suarez, pay homage to Santa Cruz, Bolivia and has effectively created its new anthem for years to come.
An awarded musician from an early age, Mendez has been practicing and performing live music for many years. For him, it’s the adrenaline of playing his music out live, whether it be in an intimate club or a huge festival setting (check out his headlining concerts at Festijazz International La Paz, Tregua De Claves Festival, Villa Fraterna Plaza, La Muela Del Diablo Cochabamba, Casa De La Cultura Santa Cruz, Na Cunna Cochabamba and Instituto Canzion World Congress), that keeps him constantly motivated to create music.
It’s this undeniable passion for creating music that has led to him to create this nationally adored anthem and to receiving accolades from other intriguing productions he has been a centerpiece at. Those can be heard at his work with Orquesta De La Ciudad, Camerata Del Oriente, Susana Barbery, Camerata Del Oriente, FIC 2018, Casa De La Cultura, Galeria Bolivia, Viva Santa Cruz, ExpoCruz 2023, Laura Camacho´s Rafaela, and his own The Funky Tones, 3DPASO, and the lush Camerata Del Oriente.
