According to Nick Underhill of MassLive.com, New England Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman is unsure about his future with the team. The Patriots have some decisions to make this coming offseason on free agents, and Edelman will be one of them. He did have a big season for the Patriots this season, and Tom Brady has made it clear that he wants him back next season.
Edelman had a huge season for the New England Patriots this past year, catching 105 passes for 1,056 yards and six touchdowns. The main reason for his increase in production this past year, was taking on a bigger role due to Wes Welker leaving town. He was able to step in very nicely and put up the number that the Patriots needed for their offense to remain consistent.
Tom Brady is very adamant that he wants Edelman back next season, and the Patriots would be wise to make sure that happens. Brady was very upset with the way that New England handled the Wes Welker situation last year, and it wouldn’t be a good plan to test his patience with another similar move.
Overall, the expectations are that Edelman will be able to work out a deal with the Patriots to stay for the next few seasons. The Patriots have an incredibly young offense, and Brady needs a consistent receiver like Edelman. Even though he isn’t sure about his future, expect to see him re-sign with the Patriots this offseason.
