The 2014-15 NBA season has been a roller coaster ride for the Miami Heat. Today was another dip down the ride.

Within the last hour the Heat confirmed what many feared in that forward Chris Bosh has been shut down for the remainder of the season with blood clots in his lungs.

According to Bosh’s teammate Dwyane Wade, Bosh complained about discomfort in his chest area during the 2015 NBA All-Star Weekend. The discomfort continued as Bosh and his wife Adrianne traveled to Haiti along with Wade and his wife Gabrielle Union.

After coming back from Haiti on Thursday Bosh was checked in to South Miami Hospital and fears of a blood clot immediately spread. The Heat maintained a calm approach to the situation as head coach Eric Spoelstra kept stating that any declaration was premature on Thursday and Friday until all medical tests on Bosh were complete.

Bosh’s prognosis came just as the Heat were able to get Goran Dragic from the Phoenix Suns in a NBA trade deadline coup. In fact Miami announced Bosh’s status an hour after formally introducing Dragic and his brother Zoran to the media.

Bosh, who signed a five-year $118 million extension last offseason, is expected to make a full recovery and be ready for training camp next season.
